David Beckham touched down in Dulles Airport, Washington DC, for a game with LA Galaxy against DC United. He was hounded by fans for autographs and photos from the moment he landed all the way to his car.

Capello will wait for Beckham

England manager Fabio Capello insists that he will wait for David Beckham ahead of this summer's World Cup in South Africa.

Beckham tore his Achilles tendon while playing against Chievo last night and is now expected to be out for five or six months.

The 34-year-old former England captain will fly to Finland this morning to see Dr Sakari Orava, a specialist in foot injuries.

Beckham had joined Milan on loan from LA Galaxy to play regularly at the highest level so he would remain in contention for a place in Capello's World Cup squad.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Capello called Beckham last night.

“I will wait for the test results,” Capello told the pink paper. “I wished him a speedy recovery.”

Asked about Beckham's prospects of making the World Cup, he said: “I will wait for him.”
